A quick Guide to buying Organic Produce

I am a huge proponent for buying organic but try not to be a fanatic when it comes to the realities that may not always make it possible. If 80% of what I buy is organic, or from a locally grown low pesticide farm, I am happy. Here’s a quick and easy guide to follow when buying organic.

Dirty Dozen: Always Buy Organic: Or Don’t Buy at all!
These are all high in pesticides because of their porous skin or excessive need for pesticides for bug and pest control.

Peach, Apple, Bell Pepper, Celery, Nectarine, Strawberries, Cherries, Kale, Lettuce, Grapes (Imported), Carrots, Pears.

Clean 15: Lowest in Pesticides
Thicker skin and low pesticides to control bugs.

Onion, Avocado, Sweet Corn, Pineapple, Mango, Asparagus, Sweet Peas, Kiwi, Cabbage, Eggplant, Papaya, Watermelon, Broccoli, Tomato, Sweet Potato
